Suellen Fagin-Allen, JD, NCC, LMHC, RMT

Suellen Fagin-Allen, JD, NCC, LMHC, RMT knows personally that mid-life sometimes drives hard bargains that prompt serious reckoning and soul-searching: she also knows that the search and the reckoning, though often exceedingly painful, can be well worth the trouble! She enjoys working with mid-lifers and those beyond who seek new understanding of past events; forgiveness of self and others for perceived missteps along life’s path; realistic assessment of present assets and challenges; and renewed vision, purpose and a sense of what really matters most as the future is approached. Therapy with Suellen embodies a Here-and-Now, mindfulness- and reality-based focus offered with compassion, humor, logic, incisive questioning and deep respect for clients undertaking the exciting yet sometimes daunting process of mid-life transformation.

Prior to becoming a licensed mental health counselor Ms. Fagin-Allen was a performing musician, health insurance claim examiner, attorney and non-profit leader. She has also had a lifetime of experience as a person with a physical handicap utilizing a wheelchair for mobility, giving her excellent outside-the-box thinking and problem-solving skills. Perpetually curious about what makes people ‘tick’, in mid-life she was inspired to return to school to earn her Master of Counseling with Honors degree from Rollins College, which she did in 2004 at age 50.

In addition to middle-aged and older adults, Ms. Fagin-Allen enjoys working with stressed legal and healthcare professionals; creative, gifted and ‘artsy’ types; people getting used to new health or caregiving challenges; and childless adults through either choice or circumstance who find themselves seeking meaning, purpose, milestones and legacies not related to the perpetuation of a family.

When not in the office, Ms. Fagin-Allen enjoys spending time with her husband of 32 years and their two lively senior cats. In August, 2019 they (the people, not the cats!) travelled to Portugal and to Spain, where Ms. Fagin-Allen spent a week singing Renaissance music with a group of accomplished musicians from around the world. In January, 2020, she completed her Reiki Master training and she’s excited to be in training in the field of Self-Compassion, both of which will help her better teach others about channeling their own healing energy to enhance overall wellness.

Ms. Fagin-Allen is in independent practice.
