She works with children, adolescents, and adults.

Ms Burns collaborates with her patients to identify creative strategies to better understand themselves and their connections with others. Her approach is compassionate and uses non-judgmental guidance as patients take steps to improve how they feel. Kelly uses the creative process in addition to traditional talk therapy that is meaningful and non-intimidating.

“Curious about art therapy? She is happy to answer any questions you might have. You don’t have to be an “artist” to do art therapy. Art therapy uses art making as part of the therapeutic process to help patients deepen their understanding of their situation, organize their thoughts, as a way to reduce stress or to validate their experiences. Art therapy isn’t about how well you can make art, but rather using the art making process as the therapeutic tool. Sometimes talking isn’t enough or too painful to express. Art making allows for a safe way to express your thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment.”

“You are making an important decision by seeking help for your “problem”. You will decide who will listen to you with compassion and understanding. It is important to feel comfortable and safe with a therapist who will validate your thoughts and feelings. I have learned from my patients what a great relief it is for them to learn that their “problem” is not imagined. It is real and can be resolved. She will work with you to identify your core issues. You will learn to identify your strengths and become reacquainted with attributes you have forgotten or taken for granted. Through your sessions you will learn how to effectively communicate your needs and experience improved relationships. Her patients come to trust their feelings, their thoughts and behaviors. They become, what they’ve always been, but perhaps didn’t know – creative problem solvers and decision makers in charge of their life choices. You can capitalize on an opportunity to begin living fully, purposefully and with confident self-awareness.”

Ms Burns is in independent practice.
